2022 saw the launch of the "Luxembourg Metaverse", an interactive virtual reality space where Internet users can, via an avatar, take part in events and visit various places (e.g. digital sales outlets, exhibitions, etc.) without leaving the comfort of their living room. Although it is still in its infancy, this ambitious project suggests a wind of change in the nature of social and economic interactions as a whole. It is clear that the progressive integration of digital technologies, together with the falling cost of data collection, storage and processing, has created an environment in which the digital and physical worlds overlap. The concept of the "datasphere" has thus emerged.
