From 29th of October to 2nd of November 2023, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, in close collaboration with the Ministry of the Economy, the Embassy of Luxembourg to Singapore and BLCC Singapore, organised a trade mission to Singapore led by President Fernand Ernster. This Trade Mission reflects the wishes expressed last year by the Luxembourg companies to explore business opportunities with Singapore and is a testimonial of our commitment to further strengthening our relationship.
The commercial delegation was composed of 25 companies from a variety of sectors, primarily from space, smart construction, digital and green economy.
On the first day, an insightful Singapore-Luxembourg Forum took place at the Fullerton Hotel. The Forum was a remarkable platform for exchanging ideas and opening up new opportunities for collaboration shared by H.E. Patrick Hemmer, President Fernand Ernster, Vice President Dino Tan from the Singapore Economic Development Board and Senior Trade and Investment Officer Steven Koener from the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy. It was a valuable experience connecting with experts from both countries followed by engaging b2b talks with local prospects.
The day was festively ended with a reception hosted by Ambassador Patrick Hemmer, President Fernand Ernster and Honorary Consul Michelle Liem at the Social Lab, forging stronger ties between Luxembourg and Singapore and sharing a taste of the vibrant culture in the Lion City.
The second day started with a visit of SWITCH - The Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology bringing together leaders and investors from the Global-Asia innovation ecosystem. The focus industries include healthcare & biomedical sciences, smart cities & urban solutions, trade & connectivity, and emerging sustainable technologies.
Moreover, was signed an MoU between Luxembourg Space Agency and OSTIn Singapore. This collaboration will open up new opportunities for space exploration and innovation. The Space Agency is looking forward to working together to push the boundaries of space technology.
The finale of the trade mission in Singapore was the visit of the Nanyang Technological University, ranked within the world's top 30 universities.
NTU is also home to several Research Centres of Excellence such as the Centre of Excellence for Testing and Research of Autonomous Vehicles, the Satellite Research Centre and the Singapore Centre for 3D Printing. NTU's main campus covers 200 hectares of land, making it the largest university campus in Singapore. The visit marked the successful conclusion of the mission, reflecting the commitment to advancing bilateral partnerships and exploring opportunities for joint research investments in Singapore.
