International Affairs

The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organised the ‘Go International: Turkey’ webinar, in close collaboration with the Luxembourg Embassy in Turkey, on 25 November 2020.

This webinar is part of the ‘Go International’ event series, organised by the International Affairs team at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, dedicated to maintaining trade relations abroad, and to assisting companies in exploring new markets differently.

Mrs Cindy Tereba, Director of International Affairs at the Chamber of Commerce and H.E. Ms Angèle Da Cruz, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Turkey, jointly opened the webinar before giving the floor to Mr Atilla D. Yerlikaya, General Manager for Corporate Strategy and Policy of Amazon Turkey and Chairman of Turkey-Luxembourg Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), who explained the impact of Covid-19 on Turkey’s economy and highlighted the different economic sectors.

Following his introduction, Mr Levent Apaydin, Chairman of the Belgian Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Turkey (BLCCT), presented the services offered by BLCCT: visa assistance, organisation of business trips or support for setting up a company. There are a number of sectors that both Luxembourg and Turkey are pursuing: the automotive industry, aerospace, ICT, logistics, renewable energy, defense and security.

Mr Nihat Narin, CEO of the Istanbul Investment Agency (IIA) gave a presentation of the Istanbul municipality plans for economic development in the region: development of metro lines, waterworks, recycling, and the setting up of a TechnoCity, while Mr Serdar Alemdar, General Manager of ODTÜ Teknokent, Middle East Technical University’s (METU) technopark, gave an overview of the dynamic startup ecosystem & investment climate in Turkey.

Following a brief Q&A with questions asked by the audience, Mrs Edith Stein, Senior Advisor at the Chamber of Commerce, officially closed the webinar with an optimistic outlook on the economic collaboration, be it in ICT, space, logistics, defense or renewable energy.

Thanks to the digital format, those who could not attend the event will be able to watch the webinar ‘on demand’:
