The NATO Delegations of Luxemburg, Belgium, and the Netherlands organised the 2018 NATO-Benelux Industry Day in Brussels on the 23rd March 2018 in collaboration with the defence & security industry federations NIDV (NLD) and Agoria-BSDI (BEL), and the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce.
The programme included speeches from the NATO Ambassadors as well as informative presentations on business opportunities within the NATO context - this year specifically with the NCIA, NATO HQ and NSPA. Luxembourg was well represented during this 8th edition of the NATO-Benelux Industry Day with 50 company representatives out of a total of nearly 250 participants.
Jeannot Erpelding, Director of International Affairs at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce said that: "When you think about the Luxembourg economy, many sectors will come to your mind; the security and defense sector, however, is unlikely to be one of them. Indeed, Luxembourg does not have a defense industry as such. It is important however to remember that numerous companies of various sectors of activity are producers of dual use goods and services, and are already conducting projects in these areas or are looking into these market opportunities for future development. The large spectrum of goods and services serving this market is reflected by the diversity of the activities of the Luxembourg companies represented here today, ranging from cyber security, logistics, consulting services to industry, space and communication technologies, and beyond."
Following the extremely positive feedback from the participants, the NATO-Benelux Industry Day can be considered a great success.
This year the event was hosted at the Royal Military Academy, and next year's edition will be organized in the brand new NATO building. Mark your calendars!
