Serge Hanssens has been appointed as the new EY Global Client Service Partner (GSCP) for European Institutions and will drive the next phase of growth for some of the Firm’s most important public sector accounts, in a year that is particularly transformational for the EU, considering the June European Parliament elections, the European Commission’s new mandate, and a new EU agenda.

Prior to joining EY, Serge worked with notable EU bodies, including the European Commission, eu-LISA, ECHA, Fusion for Energy, the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the EIB, as well as national governments (including Germany, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Portugal, the Netherlands and Finland), public organizations such as the NATO and private companies such as Lufthansa Group, Star Alliance, Amadeus and Eurotunnel.

Serge brings to this role a wealth of experience, with 28 years dedicated to supporting top EU and public sector organizations. His extensive background includes designing and implementing EU policies, and leading projects that leverage technology for digitalization in areas like migration, for border management, digital identity, taxation, and security.

A graduate of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and HEC Liège, Serge is proficient in both English and French.

“We are delighted to have Serge join our firm and are eager to see how he will enrich our relationships with EU Institutions, generating value for both our team and our clients,” comments Olivier.
