The closure of Tivat Airport, due to extreme weather conditions, led to the cancellation of the September 24 flight to Luxembourg.
The storms that hit Tivat, in Montenegro, on September 24th, 2024, caused the temporary closure of the airport, disrupting the travel plans of many passengers. Luxair's flight from Luxembourg was forced to divert to Podgorica Airport.
In anticipation of these disruptions, Luxair’s operational teams had taken the initiative to organize bus transfers to allow passengers of the Luxembourg-Tivat flight to reach Podgorica. Unfortunately, the weather conditions also made the only road serving the airport impassable. Two of the four buses planned, which were to carry 83 passengers, could not leave Tivat Airport.
Luxair initially planned a triangular Podgorica – Tivat – Luxembourg flight to pick up passengers stranded in Tivat. However, due to the lack of improvement of the weather conditions, this stopover was not possible, forcing the plane to fly directly to Luxembourg.
Luxair apologizes for any inconvenience caused to its passengers due to this unforeseen circumstance and assures them that all efforts were made to minimize the disruptions and provide the necessary assistance. All passengers in Tivat have been taken care of, and a special flight was organized today to ensure their return to Luxembourg under the best possible conditions.
