EU Gateway | Business Avenues has its origins in the EU Gateway Programme which was created in 1990 to deepen economic interaction and cooperation between Europe and Japan. After more than 25 years of market presence, EU Gateway has become a leading business platform establishing successful partnerships between European and Asian firms in Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam.
The new programme launched in 2016 will offer business missions to Korea, South East Asia and China. In South East Asia, the outreach has expanded to include three new destinations: Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. A business mission in South East Asia always starts in Singapore and will then include a visit to one other country among the following Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Business missions act as entry ticket for European companies to markets with opportunities and but difficult to penetrate due to business culture or regulatory constraints. Between 2008 and 2014, more than 1,500 European companies have been selected. Assistance with business meeting matchmaking is a core service of the programme with 22,000 individual meetings organised from 2008 to 2014.

The EU Gateway | Business Avenues focus on specific sectors with strong potential for European companies and offer a range of business services. Through a dedicated team in Europe as well as in local markets, EU Gateway | Business Avenues supports companies at every step with strategic, organisational and financial services and support.

Who can participate?

- Does your company exist for at least 5 years and are you able to demonstrate 3 years of financial figures?
- Is your company fully or majority-owned by European Union capital?
- Does your company have its headquarters in the European Union?
- Does your company have a sufficient turnover and number of people employed to successfully enter the target market?
- Does your company have proven track records of international business cooperation (outside the European Union)?
- Is your company a producer, a sub-contractor, a Research and Development company or an engineering company? Not a business consultancy.
