Conference
On Tuesday October 17th, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organized the conference “Students meet Professionals: Star athletes as entrepreneurial role models » on the occasion of the WTA tournament “BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open” at CK Sportcenter in Luxembourg-Kockelscheuer.
The Chamber of Commerce brought together students and (future) entrepreneurs with star athletes, Eugénie Bouchard, a top women tennis player / WTA Singles Ranking 79 (05/10/2017), and Valérie Chiasson, a female race car driver and entrepreneur, in order to discuss relevant issues relating to motivation, endurance or career management. No less than 50 students from Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie accompanied by their teachers attended this conference, organized within the framework of the Chamber of Commerce’s programme “Relation Ecole-Entreprise” which objective is to inform and raise students' awareness of entrepreneurship as well as stimulate their entrepreneurial spirit.
During her welcome speech Lynn Zoenen, head of the programme “Relation Ecole-Entreprise” at the Chamber of Commerce, pointed out that one of the main goals of the conference was to show the similarities between a sports and an entrepreneurial career, and at the same time to make the students benefit from Eugénie Bouchard’s and Valérie Chiasson’s experiences made during their professional career.
Both sportswomen highly appreciated their exchanges with this younger generation. A highlight of this encounter is the fact that with Eugénie Bouchard, professional tennis player, and Valérie Chiasson, race car driver and successful entrepreneur, two women with different professional backgrounds answered the students' questions and allowed them to discover two different ways of being successful. Both speakers motivated the students to work hard to follow their dreams, to never give up and not to let failure discourage them. For Bouchard and Chiasson every setback is a new chance to come back even stronger.
A video with the best moments of the conference will be posted shortly on Merkur.tv.
