The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organised from October 26th-28th an official trade mission to Italy led by Prime Minister Xavier Bettel with the participation of Lex Delles, Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Minister for Tourism of Luxembourg and Carlo Thelen, CEO of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. The delegation was composed of 38 company representatives active in digital economy, automotive, tourism, financial and industrial services.
The programme started with the enriching visit of CINECA, the Consortium composed by 112 Italian universities and public institutions offering support to scientific research, public and industrial, through high performance computing. CINECA also conceived the new LEONARDO supercomputer, which will be installed at the Bologna Technopole.
The day was concluded festively with an official reception organised by the Luxembourg Embassy in Italy and the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. 120 participants were hosted in the International Museum and Library of Music to get in touch with key partners.
The second day, the Luxembourg delegation continued its programme with a Business Forum. At the opening ceremony, Xavier Bettel and Stefano Bonaccini, President of Emilia-Romagna Region recalled the strong historical links that unite these two territories and the absolute necessity to strengthen and develop new partnerships, institutional, touristic, economic and academic, in order to participate in the excellence of Europe in many sectors ranging from finance to industry, relying on the huge potential of new technologies.
Lex Delles continued with a presentation on the tremendous potential of the Luxembourg tourism sector while Carlo Thelen detailed the resilience of the Luxembourg economy and its excellence in sectors such as financial services, logistics, data and AI, space industry, health and eco-technologies.
Workshops on doing business in Emilia-Romagna Region, digital transition and electric and digital challenges in the automotive industry completed the forum, which ended with a large networking and b2b session allowing the Luxembourg delegation to discuss new partnerships with representatives of Italian companies.
Discovering exceptional automobiles was realizable for the Luxembourg delegation during the visit at Lamborghini. Thanks to the genius of the founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, Lamborghinis demonstrate "an avant-garde spirit, a great capacity for innovation and exceptional design". The delegation was welcomed by the CEO Stephan Winkelmann who presented the history of the company, explained how Sant’ Agata factory has become officially certified as carbon-neutral and highlighted technical innovations aiming to achieve zero emissions.
The last day the delegation visited Granarolo the largest diary group in Italy specialized in the production of fresh milk, yogurt and cheese based on an integrated production system, and a constant search for comprehensive sustainability, which translates into animal welfare, less water, less emissions and less plastic.
