Commission seeks feedback on draft implementing act to establish a scientific panel under the AI Act

Actualités juridiques

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act foresees a scientific panel of independent experts on AI. This advisory body will play a key role in supporting enforcement activities under the AI Act and will advise and support the European Artificial Intelligence Office (‘the AI Office’) in the performance of its tasks.

The European Commission published a draft implementing regulation, including provisions on selection criteria and composition of the scientific panel, the term of office, as well as details regarding its competences, including the  power to issue “qualified alerts” to the AI Office where it suspects that a general-purpose AI model poses risks.

This call closes on 15 November 2024 (midnight Brussels time) and any feedback with regards to this draft can be submitted through the European Commission’s website, accessible via this link. “
