At the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce, the Best Business Plan Award was created to commend the work of a young deserving graduate of the Master in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, a programme resulting from a partnership between the Chamber of Commerce and the University of Luxembourg.
Philippe Freitas Morgado, founder of the startup Simpleviu, which specialises in the design and management of innovative and ecological accommodation and tourist services, received the award for the first edition of this competition, which comes with a cash prize of EUR 1,500.
Philippe Freitas Morgado's project has a sustainable and circular economy approach due to the use of materials, products and services from Luxembourg in designing glass and wooden chalets that blend into nature in perfect harmony with the environment. According to the head of the Master in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Mickaël Géraudel, ‘the candidate's business plan was excellent and the idea convinced the jury thanks to its originality’.
Philippe Freitas Morgado thanked the Chamber of Commerce and the University of Luxembourg for this award: ‘I am very proud of this award, which motivates me even more because not only does it endorse my business idea and demonstrate how important the concept of sustainable development is for today's economy and society, but I am also personally very grateful to see that my commitment and the many hours of work I invested in the project have paid off. I couldn’t have done it all without the support of my family and friends. I will always be grateful for the people I met and the friendships I developed and I hope to be able to give back to them in some way through this project’.
The Chamber of Commerce congratulates Philippe Freitas Morgado for his exemplary work carried out over the last two years in the Master in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and wishes him long-term success in his business project.
Created in 2007, the Master in Entrepreneurship & Innovation represents a pillar of the collaboration between the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance at the University of Luxembourg and the Chamber of Commerce and is aimed at strengthening the relationship between the academic world and the Luxembourg entrepreneurial environment. As a sponsor of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation chair, the Chamber of Commerce supports training in key skills for business creation and development and encourages young talent to undertake their business ideas and thus contribute to the development of a sustainable and responsible economy. Via its House of Entrepreneurship, the Chamber of Commerce raises student awareness about the opportunities offered by entrepreneurship and supports budding entrepreneurs by providing them with expertise. It allows them a firsthand look behind the scenes of startups and to familiarise themselves with the relevant people and places in the Luxembourg entrepreneurial ecosystem.
