About the sectors:
Japan's leadership in digital health reflects the country's unique blend of technological innovation, aging population, and proactive approach to healthcare challenges.
Japan is increasingly establishing itself as an internationally important production and research location for innovative pharmaceutical products and is currently the second largest pharmaceutical market in the world.
The area of digitalization and ICT is particularly promising. On the one hand, there is a lot of catching up to do here, but on the other, the Japanese government is providing strong support.
In IT, Japan’s advantage is in its network infrastructure, one of the most advanced in the world. Having this environment in place provides a huge tailwind propelling innovation on the Internet of Things [IoT] Japan has built an environment that supports the quest for innovation through collaboration among industry, academia, and the government. The Japanese government is also making great efforts to encourage innovation through the growth of the startup industry.
