The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and its Enterprise Europe Network, in collaboration with Startup Luxembourg and the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Portugal organised a trade fair visit from 13th to 16th November to the Websummit. 40 Luxembourg companies and institutions, consisting of 56 participants took the opportunity to attend this prestigious international event as part of the Luxembourg delegation to benefit from the latest technology trends and innovations and gain international exposure.
With over 70,000 attendees and 2,600 startups, this year’s Websummit showcased the latest global tech & innovation trends. Exciting conferences, key notes of tech evangelists, corporates highlighting their innovation road maps, country pavilions presenting their ecosystems, buzzing startup zones and crowded alleys are the main aspects that vividly characterise this edition of Websummit.
This year’s Luxembourgish presence at Websummitwas a very special event, highlighted by the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg, the Minister of the Economy, Mr. Franz Fayot and Mr Carlo Thelen, CEO / Director General of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce.
The delegation had the occasion to participate in the opening with insightful discussions about the future of AI by Jimmy Wales, CEO of Wikipedia.
On Day 1, the Luxembourg companies had the opportunity to visit four country pavilions namely Cap Verde, Portugal, France & Germany together with members of the official delegation. These visits served as a perfect opportunity for Luxembourg companies to get to know the ecosystems and companies of these countries.
Keeping up with the tradition, day 1 was concluded with Luxembourg’s official networking reception organised by the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Portugal together with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce & Startup Luxembourg. This international evening welcomed the presence of around 180 participants from 10 countries. The evening that celebrated the international openness of Luxembourg served as a cornerstone for Luxembourg companies to engage with foreign counterparts.
Day 2 of the trade fair visit consisted of free visits, participation in various conferences and a networking reception on the German Pavilion hosted by the region of Rhineland Palatinate.
10 Luxembourg startups participated as exhibitors at the Summit this year thus reinforcing our ever-growing presence at the Websummit.
The 2023 edition of Websummit was certainly very promising, and the Luxembourg companies have already expressed their eagerness and impatience to attend the next edition.
