From 29 June to 1st July 2021, the Chamber of Commerce organized a three-day China e-Mission Follow-up webinar entitled “Digital Transformation & e-Commerce”. This is the follow-up event of last year’s first digital trade mission to China, from 23 to 26 November 2020, to further explore the business opportunities in the field of the digital transformation and e-commerce between Luxembourg and China.
Day 1 – Opening Webinar & Facilitated Entry into the Chinese Market
Mr. Vincent Hieff, Consul General & Executive Director at Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Shanghai kicked off the webinar.
Mr. Joey Huo, Business Development Manager at Jindong Worldwide, informed Luxembourgish companies about the opportunity to test their products on the Chinese market with a lower investment cost. He also announced that the second-largest e-commerce platform in China will organize an online World Fair in October. Mr. Huo showcased the future potential Luxembourg ‘National Pavilion’ on JD.com. The Chamber of Commerce considers joining the event and opening a Luxembourgish online pavilion where your company could sell its products directly to Chinese customers.
A panel discussion between Maxime Pantaleoni and Na Shi from the Chamber of Commerce and Michel Thein, AsiaLux Import & Export S.A., gave a detailed explanation of how to participate in the Luxembourg pavilion at the digital world fair.

Day 2 - Export Control Law in China - How Luxembourg exporters are affected
Mrs. Cindy Tereba, Director International Affairs at Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, opened the 2nd day’s webinar by reviewing the bilateral trade relation between China and Luxembourg.
China published in December 2020 a new Export Control Law. It creates legal and investigative powers for the enforcement of Chinese export controls. While it imposes requirements on anyone who exports controlled goods from China, it also affects importers in Luxembourg and the EU.
The speaker Mr. Patrick Goergen, CEO of RespectUs and expert in law, identified the risks and suggest solutions of a to do list of 10 steps to manage those risks and compline the Chine legal regulations while entering into Chinese market or doing business with China.

Day 3 – Digital Transformation – Make sure your business is ready for the reopening
The final session focused on the digital transformation and clouding, online payment and e-commerce solutions. It was introduced and moderated by David Foy, Head of Sector Development of Digital Economy at Luxinnovation.
Three experts from Whale Cloud, fellow clouding company of Alibaba group, Mr. Zhouxi Wu, Jimmy Wang and Jack Wang explained how mobile payment enables a super digital lifestyle for everyone and support Luxembourg businesses.
The Whale Cloud team presented their Cloud Portfolio supporting Luxembourg Businesses, followed by insight on mobile payment. Finally, the Alibaba Group company presented how e-commerce is connecting people and improving our lives in the 21st century.
This session closed the three-day follow-up event to the China e-Mission on digital transformation and e-Commerce.
