From 13 September to 17 September, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and its Enterprise Europe Network, together with Farvest, organised the 2nd edition of the Digital ICT Week. Built around the ICT Spring, this 5-day hybrid event stimulated digital transformation, while integrating several highlights events, such as, thematic tech tours, and virtual company visits, the Inside Startup Luxembourg and International business meetings by b2fair at its core.
The Digital ICT Week that was inaugurated on 13 September focused on the power of the Digital Age, with speeches from Ms Sabrina Sagramola, International Affairs Manager of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, Mr Crispin Waymouth, Deputy Head of Unit, Industrial Forum, Alliances Clusters at the European Commission, Ms Charlotte Boutelier and Margaux Vetzel, Managing Directors of Farvest Group, and a key note from Mr Keith Strier, Vice President, Worldiwde Initiatives, of NVIDIA. While Ms Sagramola highlighted the importance of Cooperation and initiatives such as the Digital ICT Week in fostering Digitalisation, Mr Waymouth brought out the ambitions of the European Commission in supporting companies to take the digital leap. Ms Boutelier and Ms Vetzel underlined the highlights of the ICT Spring and its role in federating the Tech Community in Luxembourg and beyond. Mr Strier highlight the importance of AI in boosting competitiveness and Luxembourg’s avant guard approach to be the first European country to create an AI partnership with NVIDIA to foster private-sector innovation & government-led research.
The inauguration was followed by a dynamic presentation of Luxembourg’s startup ecosystem, organized by Startup Luxembourg which combined insightful presentations, videos and testimonies from startups that chose Luxembourg.
The second and the third days of Digital ICT Week were dedicated to ICT Spring and its different Summits namely Fintech Summit, Digital Summit, Mastermind Summit, Space Forum, Digital Supply Chain Forum & European Cyber Security Forum. The ICT Spring welcomed key note speeches from Mr Carlo Thelen, CEO – Director General of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, who continued the tradition of introducing H.E. Mr Xavier Bettel, Luxembourg Prime Minister, at ICT Spring. Carlo Thelen focused on key ingredients for a resilient economy, the post-covid recovery phase, and on the importance of an inclusive digital strategy.
The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce was also the proud partner of the Mastermind Summit that was organised in collaboration with Farvest, the Ministry of Economy and Luxinnovation and welcomed round tables on acceleration and funding opportunities in Luxembourg, The Greater Region and Europe. The event was inaugurated by Ms Cindy Tereba, Director International Affairs of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce & Mr Michele Gallo, Director ICT & Startups, Ministry of Economy. Ms Tereba underlined the connection between acceleration and ecosystems in her welcome address. Furthermore, pitching sessions, fireside chats and round tables were organized in 3 tech streams: Fintech, Space & Deeptech.
The following days of the Digital ICT Week offered engaging discussions on the latest tech trends whilst showcasing key initiatives of Luxembourg, with two key players: Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT), and one of Luxembourg’s Unicorn - Spire Global, Inc. SnT virtual presentation was dedicated to introduce its competences, how SnT places Luxembourg as key player in various fields of ICT and highlighted its partnership programme which fosters innovation. Spire concluded the week with an inspiring discussion on the Luxembourg Space sector (newly listed New York stock exchange).
At the core of the Digital ICT Week was the International Matchmaking Meetings by b2fair, that organised over 4 days and brokered more than 400 meetings between companies with the objective to foster digitalisation through tangible partnerships. The matchmaking platform also allowed companies to start discussions, make connections and chat between themselves.
