Cloud Expo Europe
On march 15-16 Luxembourg was present for the first time, with a national stand at the Cloud Expo Europe. Organised every year alongside Smart IoT, Cloud Security, Data Centre World and Big Data World, it is an innovative event that looks forward to the presence of data centre technologies, software and programs, data processing software and devices associated with the exclusive world of data and information. The event also conducts conferences and seminar programs, where key speakers and delegates present their views and share information about various data traits. The event throws light on emerging solutions and technologies that make data handling an easy task.
18,515 technology buyers and influencers came to ExCeL London in 2016. This year, the show hosted 500 leading international technology exhibitors and 600 expert speakers including representatives from businesses like Salesforce, VMware, IBM, Microsoft, AWS and Dell, through to leaders of innovative, international start-ups.

The European data centre market is rapidly expanding as more powerful computers, internet connections and an explosion of data, new cloud computing models, the mobile revolution and regulatory issues continue to drive the requirement for further infrastructure growth. To date Luxembourg has had a fairly low profile in the world of data centres but despite being one of the smallest states in Europe, The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg exemplifies how technology and communications can act as catalysts for growth. In fact, according to the Uptime Institute, Luxembourg has the highest density of top-ranked (Tier IV) certified data centres in the world, with seven in operation. The infrastructure and connectivity of Luxembourg is the product of the government’s ambitious investment in fibre which stimulated 30 international carriers to create their own connections. There are now 28 different fibre routes into Luxembourg, making it possibly the most networked region in the world.
The Luxembourg stand, mentioned on the "20 must see exhibitors" list, was located at the entrance of the fair, a strategic position that attracted a large number of visitors. Luxembourg representatives and partners in London made a point of visiting the Luxembourg stand. H.E.Mr Engelberg, Ambassador of Luxembourg to the UK, Mr. Jean-Claude Kugener, Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Georges Schmit, Member of the Board of the spaceresources.lu initiative, Mr. Mounif Kilani, the Belgian Trade attaché, among others congratulated the enthusiasm of the Luxembourg participation.
To further promote collaboration, the organisers invited all exhibitors to a common networking event at the traditional Fox Bar next to the ExCel Center, a pleasant preparation to St. Patricks Day which was being celebrated the day after the event.
