

From March 17th to March 20th, a high-level delegation from Luxembourg embarked on a successful trade mission to Taiwan, marking a significant step in deepening the economic and trade relationship between Taiwan and Luxembourg. This mission, co-organised by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA), was a collaborative effort supported by the Luxembourg Trade & Investment Office in Taipei (LTIO).
The Luxembourg delegation composed of 22 representatives from11 companies and 4 institutions, had the opportunity to engage with Taiwanese business leaders and explore exciting new opportunities for collaboration in the fields of ICT, smart city innovations and Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT).
Day 1: Kick off with the Taiwan-Luxembourg Joint Business Council Meeting
The mission kicked off with the 15th Taiwan-Luxembourg Joint Business Council (JBC) Meeting, which was held in Taipei on March 17th, 2025. This event, a key milestone of the mission, focused on the important themes of ICT and the Data-Driven Economy. Both Luxembourg and Taiwan are making significant strides in digital transformation, and this meeting served as a platform for dialogue on further strengthening economic ties in these key sectors.
The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Michael Hung, the newly appointed Chairman of the Taiwan-Luxembourg JBC, Vice chairman of Shin Kong life insurance Co. and Mr. Robert Goeres, Luxembourg Chairman of JBC and elected member of the Chamber of Commerce. The opening keynote was delivered by Mr. David Foy, Head of International Business Development at Luxinnovation, who highlighted Luxembourg's commitment to fostering digital innovation and international collaboration.
In addition to the keynote speeches, the day included an engaging pitching session featuring Luxembourg-based companies such as Artec3D, Deep, and Luxcontrol. The event also featured a B2B matchmaking session, fostering direct business connections.
Day 2: Exploring Smart Technologies and AIoT at the Smart City Summit & Expo
The delegation had the opportunity to attend the Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE) in Taipei, Asia’s largest hybrid tradeshow for smart city solutions. The SCSE showcased advancements in various sectors, including healthcare, transportation, sustainability, and startups, with a particular focus on AIoT innovations shaping the future of urban development.
The Luxembourg delegation visited several exhibitors and engaged with industry leaders, gaining valuable insights into how IoT and smart technologies are revolutionizing cities worldwide. A highlight of the day was a visit to the booth of Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, where the delegation explored cutting-edge AI, IoT, and smart manufacturing solutions.
The day concluded with a high-level networking reception hosted by the LTIO – Taipei, where Luxembourg and Taiwanese business leaders had the chance to exchange ideas and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Day 3 and 4: Exploring Kaohsiung’s Dynamic Transformation and Company Visits
On the next stop of the mission the delegation visited Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s second-largest city, which is rapidly evolving into a smart city hub. Known for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, Kaohsiung provided an ideal setting for further discussions on the future of smart cities.
