Further to the success of the International Business Meetings by b2fair organised during the Dubai World Expo 2020 last January, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, in close cooperation with the European business support network “Enterprise Europe Network” of the European Commission, Cube In, and many other international partner organisations, organised a Virtual Follow-up Day on 24th March 2022.

This virtual day was organised with the objective to allow participants who could not join the event in Dubai due to the COVID-19 to benefit from so far unexplored business opportunities and to develop new business partnership relations. In addition, it also gave all the participants who were present at the event the opportunity to follow up established business contacts to concretise potential partnership agreements.

During her introduction words, Ms Sabrina Sagramola, Manager International Affairs & National EEN Coordinator at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce went back in time to the event organised in January to highlight the objectives of the initiative to help Luxembourg & European companies explore the international dimension of the expo which was achieved with great success. This was followed by a keynote by Mr Loïc Bertoli, Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade & Investment Office in Abu Dhabi who gave participants the overall picture of Luxembourg’s presence at the Dubai Expo and the importance of the b2b event organised in January which helped Luxembourg and foreign companies explore new partnership opportunities.

The introductory keynotes were completed by a workshop on “Unveiling Culture and Innovation in the Middle East” organised in collaboration with the EU Cubein project that helps European companies innovate in emerging markets. The workshop welcomed Douglas Thompson, Manager of International Area of SPI (Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação) who took the floor to present the Cubein project. This was followed by an interesting presentation by Amer Bitar, Associate partner of Hostede Insights who talked about the business culture in the Middle East. The session was concluded with a presentation from Omar Shroof, Leader of Strategy Management Practices of Tantum who focused on Innovation in the Middle East.

The rest of the Virtual Follow-up Day was dedicated to the guidance and active participation of companies to encourage them to network & make connections via Swapcard platform.
