RIPE77 Amsterdam
LU-CIX, the LUxembourg Commercial Internet eXchange (www.lu-cix.lu) in close partnership with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce presented Luxembourg as the best place for European data centres and ICT business in the heart of Europe during the RIPE77 Meeting (https://ripe77.ripe.net), which took place in Amsterdam from 15th to 19th October 2018. This year’s Meeting saw the participation of 800 attendees from 64 countries.
A RIPE (“Réseaux IP européens”) Meeting is a five-day event where Internet service providers, network operators and other interested parties from around the world gather to:
- Participate in discussions about the policies and procedures to allocate Internet number resources;
- Participate in the RIPE Working Group sessions to discuss current technical and policy issues;
- Share experiences, latest developments and best common practices;
- Develop their network of peers in the Internet community;
- Meet at lunches, coffee breaks and informal social events.
The Luxembourg participation as Gold Sponsor was highlighted by an information booth, which attracted many visitors, as well by a networking reception on 15th October sponsored by LU-CIX.
Thanks to the high visibility during the event, LU-CIX was able to establish many new business contacts, which may lead to new clients for the Luxembourg data centre sector. Moreover, the event was an ideal opportunity to promote the Luxembourg Internet Days, which is the leading industry event of the Luxembourg Internet community.
The programme for the Luxembourg companies was enriched by a visit to the ATOS Business Technology and Innovation Centre in Amstelveen, in presence of H.E. Mr Jean-Marc Hoscheit, Luxembourg Ambassador to the Netherlands.
ATOS, being present both in Luxembourg and the Netherlands, is a global leader in digital transformation. European number one in cloud, cybersecurity and high-performance computing, the group provides end-to-end orchestrated hybrid cloud, big data, business applications and digital workplace solutions through its Digital Transformation Factory. The participants were amongst other things informed about ATOS’ involvement in the Olympic Games and about the company’s Scientific Community which provides future ideas and visions on how society and tech might evolve in the next years.
